General information (submitted)
Coccidiosis and atoxoplasmosis fall into the category of protozoan diseases. Protozoa are extremely small, single-celled organisms that live as parasites of a host. Coccidiosis and atoxoplasmosis are difficult to distinguish from each other — but one thing is certain: coccidiosis can cause very high mortality in the aviary.
Almost every canary breeder knows that coccidiosis exists, but research shows that the problem is often more serious than initially thought. Not every breeder knows that he already has it in his cages.
