The Topaz Factor — Part 17.
The topaz factor is said to have originated and developed in France, from black-red phaeo. The name, just like opal, refers to a type of gemstone. The topaz is undoubtedly an asset to the color canary hobby.
We distinguish between "full" topazes — topaz for short, the actual mutant — and the intermediate topaz as a backcross between topaz × phaeo. But the intermediate form can and should never be recognized: they are and remain intermediate crossing products for both color and markings.
