There is a lot to be found about inheritance in many books, but it remains a difficult subject for many. On this site we try to explain genetics in an accessible way. Introduction: On July 22, 1822, the founder of genetics was born: the Austrian Gregor Mendel. Through experiments with peas, he discovered that certain traits kept recurring in a fixed pattern in offspring. His publications from 1866 initially attracted little attention. It was not until 1901 that his insights were rediscovered by the Dutch-born Hugo de Vries. The "Mendel's Laws" were born.
