Nutrients: don't forget them
A brief overview of the most important nutrients for birds:
Carbohydrates are an important source of energy that the bird uses through combustion. An excess is stored in the liver.
Fats are also a source of energy, but burn more slowly. They contain the carriers of vitamins A, D, E (the fertility vitamin) and K. A surplus is stored as a fat layer under the skin, which contributes to temperature regulation.
