Perilla is a common seed on the menu of European breeders — added extra or mixed with egg food. Not only breeders of tomboys (European cultivated birds), but also breeders of canaries, tropical birds and even parakeets have started using perilla seed in recent years. As is often the case, the sudden interest in this seed species is difficult to explain directly. This article provides a better insight into its application.
