The Onyx — GENERAL With this mutation, the brown phaeomelanin is prevented from developing. This causes the eumelanin to become slightly matt, but a darkening occurs in the dorsal triangle (between the stripes) and the head region. This darkening will manifest itself optimally with the maximum pigment ranges (black and brown). With the first reduction factor (agate and isabel) it is noticeably less visible. The pins must be completely and evenly melanized. This melanin is also more matte than in classic canaries. Remaining brown phaeomelanin is incorrect!
