Variegation in our color canaries: what do we do with it?

Most canary breeders know all too well what is meant by colorfulness. Our exhibition breeders in particular are confronted with this sooner or later: whether they want it or not, every now and then a bird appears in the nest and shows some fur here and there. For inspectors this is a serious mistake, which they penalize with NG (not approved). At exhibitions there is sometimes discussion about whether a bird is colorful or not — but judges know what to look for and do not make hasty judgments.
