I am writing this article to explain the great advantages of ground slats - primarily for the birds, but also for the breeder. Bottom grids are not a novelty; just think of the wire cages. But many growers may not immediately see the benefits, or may initially dread the costs. These costs certainly exist, but they are recouped in the short term — with significantly better hygiene for the birds and much less chance of intestinal disorders and other diseases.
