Can one give too many vitamins? Most vitamins are water soluble. If the intake is too high, the excess is excreted naturally through the urine — these vitamins are therefore safe and not harmful. However, some vitamins are fat soluble: A, D, E and K. These are stored in the liver. If given in large quantities for long periods of time, the liver becomes saturated and damage can occur. Too much vitamin D can cause calcium problems in the bones. The levels in feed that we normally purchase are usually good. But if you add extra yourself, problems can arise.
