This breeding method is for me — and for many enthusiasts with me — the only and best way to successfully breed canaries. All hidden factors, both good and less good or bad, come to light most quickly in this way. Fur, shape defects, behavioral disorders, pigment and color influencing factors, feathering: everything quickly comes to the fore. It is up to the breeder to record the good qualities and later anchor them in the bird species or color variety to be bred. An accurate breeding book with good observations is indispensable.
