The Proteins: Part 17. — Proteins are found in both animal and plant foods. They are among the main building blocks of the bird's body — not only the tissues, but also substances that are closely involved in all metabolic processes, such as enzymes, hormones and antibodies. To clarify: metabolism refers to the collective chemical changes that take place in the organism to build and maintain it, as well as the conversion (breakdown) of living matter into simple substances that can be excreted. Proteins are organic compounds composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen.
