It is perfectly possible to influence the breeding urge of birds — something that is indispensable for the "early" breeder who wants to start in December. A first requirement is that the birds are at least 9 months old.
By artificially extending the day, you activate the pituitary gland in the bird's brain, which produces hormones that trigger reproduction. This daytime extension must be gradual, but you can also set the light hours directly to 15 hours.
