The action of the eumofactor prevents the brown phaeomelanin from occurring and slightly reduces the eumelanin, causing the eyes to appear faintly red. The eye color is noticeably less red in the birds from the black series.
A concentrated location of the eumelanin around the shaft of the feathers, but less concentrated than with the topaz mutation.
The outer edge is also colorless due to the absence of the brown phaeomelanin.
So centrally located eumelanin and clear border.
