A common problem with canary birds in the home.
Many emails I receive are about birds that are moulting and can't come out. This almost exclusively happens to birds that are kept indoors and exposed to varying hours of light. One day the lights come on at 6am and off at 11pm, the next day they come on at 8am and off at 10pm — and on weekends it's even more irregular. Over time, the bird no longer knows how to deal with this.
